My name is Cory Smith. Currently, I am a meteorologist at ABC24 in Memphis, TN.

I was born in Tampa, Florida where I grew up as a child. While there, I experienced the hurricane seasons of 2004-2005. When it comes down to it this is what originally sparked my interest in weather. In 2009 I moved to Charlotte, NC. I absolutely fell in love with the Queen City and the entire state of North Carolina. While there, I graduated with a B.S. in Meteorology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In 2018, I moved to Parkersburg, WV to start my life as a TV Meteorologist at WTAP. While I was there, I gained experience forecasting all types of weather ranging from severe to winter weather. In November of 2019, I moved all the way down south to Louisiana to work KADN News 15. While I was along the Gulf Coast I forecast and experienced over half a dozen tropical systems including Hurricanes Laura, Delta, and Ida. We also covered multiple fatal tornado outbreaks as well as the historic freeze of 2020. My next stop was at WLTX in Columbia, SC where I took my weather and climate storytelling to the next level for our viewers. I hope to continue this and make learning about our world exciting for the viewers here in the Mid-South!
