Important Weather Dates 2020

So just like the title states, this blog post will be about important dates in 2020 in relation to weather events here in Acadiana. This post will be updated as things happen so it is a WIP.


- January 11th, 2020: EF2 Tornado Krotz Springs, 75-100 mph winds in Lafayette as Squall line moved through.


- May, 17th 2020: EF3 Tornado Church Point, 150 mph winds. 11 Injuries and 1 Fatality.


- August 27th, 2020: Hurricane Laura made landfall in Cameron, Louisiana as a Category 4 storm with sustained winds of 150 mph and even higher gusts. Caused devastation in coastal parishes and Lake Charles.




- October 9th, 2020: Hurricane Delta Category 2 hurricane with a sustained wind speed of 100 mph at landfall. Knocked out power and caused damage across Acadiana.
